Homages Flow for Rob and Michele Reiner as Medical Examiner's Findings Remain Under Wraps.
Over a fortnight following the shocking loss of celebrated filmmaker Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, the entertainment community continue to honor the pair.
Quoting a Classic: Cary Elwes Recalls His Director
Posting on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who rose to fame in Reiner's beloved 1987 film *The Princess Bride*, mentioned he just recently felt able to share openly about his profound loss.
"Adequate time has elapsed that I can at last express my sorrow into words," wrote Elwes, noting that his introductory moment with Reiner made him fall in love. "As we began sharing more moments together I realized this was someone I wanted in my life."
The actor posted never-before-seen clips from the production, remarking that he could not remember "one day without mirth".
"The film is about devotion, fidelity and selflessness. Things that Rob valued immensely. Which is among the many reasons he was the best person to direct it," Elwes continued.
He also paid tribute Michele Reiner, stating: "To say that they were a incredible duo would be an understatement. My heart still hurts every time I recall you." He finished with a line from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but living is anguish without you."
Martin Scorsese Reflects on a Friend and Collaborator
In a different piece, acclaimed director Martin Scorsese also honored Reiner, whom he first met in the 1970s.
"Immediately, I loved hanging out with Rob. We had a innate rapport for each other. He was hilarious and sometimes bitingly funny, but he was never the kind of guy who would take over the room," Scorsese wrote.
Scorsese highlighted Reiner's acting part in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, embodying the father of the main character.
"His improvisation skills with the best. He was a master at comedy, he worked wonderfully with everyone, and he understood the human predicament of his character," Scorsese noted.
Legal Developments: Autopsy Reports Sealed
Recently, a Los Angeles court official decided to prevent the publication of the Reiners' medical examiner's reports, following a petition from the Los Angeles Police Department.
A court order placed a restriction on the files to restrict the public release of "any investigative information, documents, files or images" connected to the probe.
The coroner's office had earlier stated their deaths were the result of murder, with a public database noting the cause as "injuries from a sharp object".
Response and Criticism
Following the killings, public individuals shared divergent responses.
Ex-President Donald Trump wrote on the matter, offering controversial remarks that were widely condemned by several individuals.
Podcaster Joe Rogan lent his voice to the detractors recently. Talking on his program, Rogan labeled the remarks as "disappointing" and suggested they showed a concerning absence of compassion.
Rogan finished by remarking that an aide ought to have acted when the choice to weigh in on the tragedy was made.
